Collected and Classified: Biology in a Box
Two new NZ books re-examine how we learn about the world around us. Case Studies and The Collector look at how biological specimens ended up far from home.
How does “collecting” affect the environment and relationships? How do we categorise and name things? How does “science” perpetuate or challenge assumptions about the natural order?
Join us to hear an artist, a historian and a curator discuss such gnarly questions with noted publisher Nicola Legat. We will have books to borrow or buy.
Guest speakers include art historian Andrew McKay, floral artist/gardener Felicity Jones, and Auckland Museum invertebrates curator Leilani Walker.
Cost: Free
